COMMUNIQUE DU CAMP NO BORDER DE CALAIS

Un rideau de fer ridicule a été abaissé sur Calais, et la vaste campagne
de diabolisation de notre camp par les autorités locales se poursuit dans
la presse.

Nous dénonçons avec la plus grande fermeté les tentatives de nous
criminaliser et d’intimider la population locale pour la faire taire sur
une question qui la touche directement. Nous dénonçons et appelons à
l’arrêt de la violence extrême et de l’intimidation à l’encontre des
migrants par la police, comme l’expulsion et les coups contre des
Érythréens qui vivaient dans un immeuble squatté du centre de Calais lundi
soir, ainsi que les destructions des abris de migrants dans la région de
Calais au cours des derniers jours.

Nous, militantEs du camp No Border, insistons sur le caractère pacifique
de la manifestation que nous allons essayer de tenir le samedi 27 Juin, et
pour montrer notre bonne volonté nous sommes prêts à renégocier
l’itinéraire de notre marche.

La police nous a demandé de changer la destination de notre manifestation
qui devait aller vers le Centre de Rétention Administrative à Cité Europe
à Coquelles.

Après des discussions avec les syndicats et les partis politiques ainsi
que les associations co-signataires de l’appel à manifestation de samedi,
nous avons décidé de changer le trajet et la destination de la
manifestation, afin de moins gêner les activités des CalaisienNEs.

Nous tenons à inviter tous les gens du Calaisis à venir au camp et
assister aux films et participer aux débats des prochains jours avec des
associations locales, des groupes et des individus qui travaillent avec
les migrants ici sur le terrain, ainsi que pour discuter de la
répression croissante des migrants, ici et plus largement dans toute
l’Europe ainsi que dans les pays qui bordent notre continent.

Nous voulons rassurer les CalaisienNEs quant à la nature de nos intentions
et nous voulons inviter toutes les associations locales et les personnes
qui aimeraient voir la situation s’améliorer pour les migrants et ceux qui
les aident à nous rejoindre samedi à la manifestation dont le rendez-vous
est toujours à 10 heures samedi, en face du phare. Nous appelons les
habitantEs du Calaisis et les militantEs des organisations associatives,
syndicales et politiques à ne pas se laisser intimider par le discours des
autorités et à venir participer aux activités du camp et à la
manifestation de samedi.

MANIFESTATION POUR LA LIBERTE DE CIRCULATION ET D’INSTALLATION
SAMEDI 27 JUIN – 10H AU PHARE DE CALAIS

While a farcical curtain of steel has descended on Calais, and the massive
campaign of demonization of our camp by the local authorities continues in
the press.

We denounce in the strongest terms the attempts to criminalise us and to
intimidate local people into silence on an issue that affects them
directly. We denounce completely and call an end to the extreme violence
and intimidation being directed towards migrants by the police, we refer
to the eviction and beating of Eritreans living in a squatted building in
the centre of Calais that took place on Monday evening as well as the
destruction of migrants shelters in the Calais region over recent days.

We militants at the No Borders camp would like to continue to insist on
the peaceful nature of the demonstrations that we will be trying to hold
on Saturday the 27th of June and to show our goodwill we are willing to
renegotiate the route of our march.

We were asked by the Police to change the destination of the route of our
march which was to have been to the CRA in Coquelles at Cité Europe

Following discussions with the Trade Unions and political parties as well
as associations that are co-signatories of the call for Saturday’s
demonstration we have decided on a new route and destination for our march
so as to less inconvenience the activities of local people.

We wish to invite all local people from around Calais to come to the camp
and to the debates we will be having over the coming days with local
associations groups and individuals who are working with migrants here on
the ground, as well as to discuss the ever-increasing repression of
migrants both here and more widely throughout Europe as well as in the
countries which border our continent.

We want to reassure local people as to the nature of our intentions and we
want to invite all local associations and people who would like to see the
situation improve for migrants and those that help them to join us on
Saturday for our march which is still planned to gather at 10am on
Saturday in front of the lighthouse. We call for the inhabitants of Calais
and the activists of associations, trade unions and political parties and
not to be intimidated by the discourse of the authorities and to come and
participate in the activities of the camp and to the demonstration on
Saturday.
